Too often, gifted riders step away simply because the costs of horse ownership and competition are beyond reach. Our mission is to change that. We are creating scholarship programs to provide financial assistance to those high-potential human and equine athletes.
For over 30 years, I have dedicated my life to the equine industry, breeding and training some of the top Warmbloods lines for high-level show jumping competition. Horses developed through my program have achieved international success in venues such as The Royal Winter Fair and WEC Ocala.
I am proud to be an EC and NCCP Licensed Competition Coach and I’ve seen first hand that the greatest challenge facing our sport today is not talent but rather access. Many passionate, extremely talented young riders are unable to reach their full potential due to financial barriers. Sand Cherry would like to be a part of their success stories.

Sand Cherry Stables was built by family for families — a place where children learn responsibility, confidence, resilience, and experience the therapeutic benefits that horses uniquely provide, alongside competitive sport opportunities for our gifted riders. We have personally invested in barns, an indoor arena, and pasture development to provide a safe and professional environment. We are now focused on building a sponsored competition team dedicated to developing young riders with the capabilities and commitment to one day represent both Canada and our supporting partners at the highest levels of equestrian sport.
Many of our young riders currently spend hours training, grooming and exercising horses, tending to their horse's needs. With additional support, these young athletes can advance to levels currently out of reach.
Equestrian sport is a long-term development discipline that requires years of training and competitive experience. The average age at the pinnacle of equestrian sport is 37-44, and the age range can span from 20s all the way to 60s. (The average age of the 2021 Olympic Canadian equestrian team was 39.)
We are seeking benefactors who wish to join us on this journey - who believe in investing in youth, community, long term athlete development, and the future of Canadian sport & of our young riders in particular.
This initiative goes beyond winning in competition — it is about creating opportunity, mentorship, and life changing experiences for our Canadian youth through horses.

I boarded my horse at Sand Cherry Stables the last few years of his life. I believe the excellent care and attention to his health he received here is a huge reason he made it through his last winter. Heather and her family went above and beyond for us and I am forever grateful. Horses are treated as individuals here, and regardless of their place on the farm they are looked after as though they are her own. After stepping back from horses for a couple years I am now getting back in the saddle and didn't hesitate for a moment to contact Sand Cherry Stables when the time came!
Heather is amazing. She's a seasoned veteran of competition riding and one heck of a teacher. She saved me from making a terrible purchase of a horse that could have been the end of me. It wasn't easy and involved several phone calls. She went way above what most people would have. I'm lucky. Today I have leased the most amazing boy, 'Boomer'. Heather continues to school me and I'm happy. If you are looking for an amazing teacher with extraordinary skills, she's the one.
My daughter has been riding at Heather's facility since the summer. Heather creates a space that is not just about learning how to ride, she helps your children grow as individuals and gives them confidence and the tools they need to be successful both inside and outside the arena. She is super knowledgeable and all of her horses are very well cared for with extreme attention to their wellbeing as well as the riders. Going to Heather's barn has been the best decision we ever made for our daughter.
